When I first visited Perry Hill Road Baptist Church, I
was greeted by a wonderful group of caring people. I remember truly feeling welcomed. Charlotte and I attended for a
while. And I had the feeling I wanted to return to the church I was raised in. We attended there for about a year and never
really felt that was where we should be. I had been dealing with questions about my salvation. I was teaching a Sunday school
class and doing what I thought a good Christian should be doing, but things in my life indicated to me I lacked a big part
of the Christian life, that being salvation. My anger and temperament was way off the scale. I
hated going to church - it was a real chore to get up and go. I was really only doing it for Charlotte's sake. I didn't
want to pray or read the Bible. But all that changed when we were visiting a church Charlotte's uncle pastors in
Georgia. God started working on my heart, and I accepted Christ as my Savior.
When we went back to our church, I could remember the way Perry Hill Road Baptist had
welcomed me; that was a feeling I did not have in the church we were attending. I felt I needed to go home to Perry Hill Road;
I knew that God wanted us to go back there and make that our home church. While
we were away, Perry Hill Road continued showing their love for us through visits to our home. The Garbers, The
Jordans, Jerry and Pat and others would come by from time to time and invite us back to the church.
God is truly blessing Perry Hill Road Baptist, and we couldn't have
better examples of servants than that of Pastor Steve and his family. I
love everyone at Perry Hill Road and hope God continues to allow me to serve him with this wonderful group of people.
